Bird Book

The birds shown on this page are those which are not found in the book.
They are either owned by others and I was not able to get a good enough picture,
or were discovered after publication, which was March 12, 2012.
If you have a bird that is not shown in the book, please send me a high resolution picture
with size and color information and I will post it on this page.

You may order this book directly from me and save over the list price.
If you would like to order one, please send a check for $37.

Bird on the left is the new one. Tan color, not luster
A goldfinch outside my window
Chicken creamer with cover
Possible part of a set
Common form but a very unusual yellow glaze
A tall swan with rare green highlights
Herons come in many sizes
but I had only seen this version
in the large size.
Recently found it in a mall in the medium size
Right Facing Chinese Pheasant
Mold #1138
Previously thought this form was only
in the large size when painted green.
The small size is the rare one.
Note the large bird faces left while
the smaller bird faces center or right.
Recently found Bird on Chalice
but has a tan luster tree trunk.
It is the largest size.
Largest bird, recently acquired
the right facing matched vase
This finch when colored
is very common but in luster
it is much harder to find.
Especially HTF with green highllights
I thought his biggest owl was the 9 1/2 inch size
but discovered it was a new size
Here are all the owls I have so far
Still need the biggest one in dark brown
The small toucan is the newest addition. I was surprised it was so small.
The most colorful bird yet
I thought it might have been
repainted, but believe original
Common bird, but blue beak
A new one to me
Another relatively common bird
but gold luster finish
The middle bird is a new size
measuring 6 3/8 inches
This large eagle may actually be Royal Dux
Similar to Mold #5109
Wings are not spread
The luster bird on the top
left is a new addition to my collection,
one I have been searching for year after year.
click on the picture for a bigger image.
Can also be seen in one of the other books
with red trim
Bird on a tree stump
sold on eBay for $13! to an unknown collector
The left swallow reported by a collector
was said to be luster
previously unseen

Rare Mold 7127 in a painted version
Rare Mold 7127
in a luster version with
yellow wash
Common bird, Mold #1102
Much greener base
unsure if this is variety
Little Finch on Lotus Blossom

didn't buy, thought $42 was too much

like Royal Copley

Rare Green Highlights

Bird on Triangular Ashtray
Tom Rood found the parrot on the left.
Note the green head and more detail
in painting altogether.
It is also taller.
The Eagle in front was recently acquired.
It is only 9 inches tall compared to
about 10 1/2 inches. New Size!
Although the larger blackbird (plugged holes)
is in the book, reporting that I found another example.
The pheasant on the right
does have the RDM unlike
the one on the left
(shown in the book).
The base is very blue,
which is also very unusual.
I always thought I would find
this bird with the RDM,
now I have.
A new smaller version (front)has been found.
Usual size shown on page 43 of the book.
These two penguins were bought
about a month apart,
from different people.
They match the penguin bookend
This shows the RDM although
it is green or black on these.
